Previous Special Topic and Annual Reports from the AARIN Project.

The following are previous special topic and annual reports.

2007 Adult Annual Report

The 2007 AARIN Adult Annual report summarizes comprehensive results from the core instrument for all adult male and female arretees who participated and completed the AARIN interview during 2007. Chapters include information about recent and past drug use, contact with the criminal justice system, gang membership, firearm possession, victimization, citizenship, and demographic characteristics. Find this report here: AARIN Annual Adult 2007.

2007 Juvenile Annual Report

The 2007 AARIN Juvenile Annual report summarizes comprehensive results from the core instrument for all juvenile male and female arretees who participated and completed the AARIN interview during 2007. Chapters include information about recent and past drug use, contact with the criminal justice system, gang membership, firearm possession, victimization, citizenship, and demographic characteristics. Find this report here: AARIN Annual Juvenile 2007.

Co-occurring Disorder Addendum

Beginning in the second quarter of data collection, the AARIN survey instrument expanded to include a Co-occurring Disorder supplemental questionnaire. This addendum asks more specific and detailed questions about the arrestees' mental health status than the current survey instrument. The purpose of including the Co-occurring Disorder Addendum is to highlight the relationship between the arrestees' drug use, treatment, and current mental health status. There are two reports detailing the findings from the Co-occurring Disorder Addendum. The report on adult respondents can be found here: Co-Occurring Disorders among Adult Arrestees , and for juvenile respondents see the following report: Co-occurring Disorders among Juvenile Detainees.

Methamphetamine Use

Methamphetamine Use among Recently Booked Arrestees and Detainees in Maricopa County is another in a series of special topic reports for the Arizona Arrestee Reporting Information Network (AARIN). Using data collected from the core interview instrument, the report looks at the percent of adult and juvenile arrestees who use methamphetamine, their social and legal characteristics, treatment history, and other critical factors. Find this report here: Methamphetamine Use among Arrestees.

Veteran Addendum

The most recent in the series of AARIN special topic reports is the Preliminary Report on Veterans among Maricopa County Arrestees. The report uses data collected from the Veterans Addendum during 1st quarter 2009. The Veterans Addendum was implemented during first quarter 2009 as a means of informing the Maricopa County Superior Court and its exploratory committee regarding the potential need for a veterans' specialty court. Understanding the prevalence and nature of military veterans in the criminal justice system will better enable Maricopa County in its efforts to make informed policy decisions.
