AARIN At-A-Glance

Each of the following At-a-Glance reports focuses on a particular issue to provide a brief glance into different issues and types of information routinely collected as part of the core AARIN interview. Typically the At-a-Glance reports examine some issue in conjunction with substance abuse rates. They are intended to provide an example of the wide range of information available, describe the arrestee population on one or two key issues, and explore interesting questions.

The Phoenix Police Department, Glendale Police Department, Mesa Police Department, and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) had the largest percentages of arrestees in the sample.

Approximately 16 percent of the total sample of adult arrestees reported they were currently not United States citizens. A significantly higher percentage of citizens tested positive for marijuana, opiates, and methamphetamine and a significantly higher percentage of non-citizens tested positive for cocaine use.
